Training of workers in Engineering Sector

Pakistan Jobs Project, funded by USAID is designed to improve the competitiveness of the Pakistani economy by strengthening systems for workforce development, encouraging Pakistani companies to invest in human capital, and improving access to training, jobs and business opportunities for women.

Xavor Pakistan, as one of the implementation partner for the Integrated Work and Learning component of the Jobs Project, is responsible for carrying out skill gap assessment, developing curriculum and conducting trainings of 400 shop floor workers in the automobile industry through "Shop Floor Workers Training" program. This capacity development program aims to equip shop floor workers with the necessary skills to gain employment or retain their job through improving their skills and becoming better fit for the job. As a result of their skill enhancement they are also expected to earn higher wages and improve their standard of living.

Training of Domestic Help

Pakistan Jobs Project, funded by USAID is designed to improve the competitiveness of the Pakistani economy by strengthening systems for workforce development, encouraging Pakistani companies to invest in human capital, and improving access to training, jobs and business opportunities for women.

Domestic help is a very large but informal segment of the services industry in Pakistan. Many people are employed by households in pay for work engagements. Since this is not a regulated sector, wages are low and work conditions are less than satisfactory. On the other hand, demand for trained domestic workers results in expatriate workers from Philippines and Sri Lank among other countries, working in Pakistan. By equipping the participants with the necessary housekeeping and domestic help skills, we can enable them to fill the gap in supply and demand of trained workers and earn a better living.

Xavor Pakistan, as one of the implementation partners for the Integrated Work and Learning component of the Jobs Project, is responsible for carrying out skill gap assessment, developing curriculum, conducting trainings and helping in the placement of 300 young women through a "Domestic Help Workers" capacity building program. This capacity development program aims to equip women from low income backgrounds in Pakistan with the necessary skills for them to be employed as domestic helpers, demand higher wages and improve their standard of living.

Upon completion of this capacity development program, it is expected that participants will be able to use the skills and techniques imparted to them during the course of the training to find jobs as domestic help workers at comparatively better salaries.

One Acre Farm project for Small Scale and Poor Farmers

In Collaboration with: University of Agriculture, Faisalabad

This project is a joint venture of Xavor Corporation and University of Agriculture Faisalabad to take up an initiative for the poverty alleviation of small scale and poor farmers of Pakistan. It aims to help the small scale and poor farmers improve their earnings and standard of living by making markets more accessible to them.

The project encourages small scale and poor farmers to grow nontraditional / nonconventional crops on their one acre or less fertilized land. Raw material (e.g. seeds, fertilizer) are made available to the farmers. Experts from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad provide training to farmers to cultivate these crops. Once crops are ready, farmers can sell them in market at premium price. This project can later be rolled out in other areas of Pakistan to include more farmers in the program.
